There are two types of people, people who likes to work individually and then those who like to work in groups… I am not much of a group person myself. So now that I am teamed up with my friends during the production of this film and project, I am definitely not a group work kind of person. Why, you may ask, well the reason because there is always that one person who does not show effort in the bunch. I can’t stand it when grown folks can’t take up responsibility for a commitment her/she made a year ago. Naturally, the lack of dedications and work always falls upon the other group members.
This leads me to the thin line between friends and partners. I on one side, feel that there is a thick line between the two identities. Unfortunately, not everyone is like me. Bummer. When doing business with friends, there seems to be a push towards taking others for granted. Obligation also seems to play a part in group work and doing business with other friends outside of the group. Feeling get involved, expectations, loyalty, etc. all get in the way of doing legit business with friends.
This is very unfortunate to me because not only are feelings hurt when they shouldn’t be, but because I of all people want my friends to succeed and I want both of our projects, business, art, whatever expand to their highest potential. But on the other hand, I do not want my group members to enjoy all the glory without participating in the producing of the film and/or project. It’s very up setting.
